bOTANICAL EXPEDITION

I joined Osa s Conservation Botanical team to visit individuals of every tree species included on the series. Gathering samples, photos and videos were our goals in this part of the process. During rainy afternoons, back a the station I drew sketches of the trees from these fresh samples that were reviewed by the team for scientific accuracy.

Illustrating giants

Some of the trees of this series are up to 70 m tall and grow in very dense primary rain forest. Visually document these giants is not an easy task, but botanical illustration makes it posible as an image can be build from different references. to Back at my studio, I started the process of painting each approved sketch using Water color over paper, lots of patience and coffee.
